I was driving home from a shoot the other day and I passed this scene…

It was almost dark and what little light remained was just gorgeous off of this retro, bygone era sign.  It humbled me as I thought about the excitement the company must have felt when they picked it out, purchased it and put it up.  Years later, there it sits…a rusty, faded memory of what was.

Our best, most exciting plans will end up like this sign…rusty and faded.  Psalm 127 starts off with these powerful words, “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it.”  What is it you are seeking?  Are you laboring to build the house?  There is One who is a Master Builder whose treasure never rusts or fades.  Let HIM build the house.

This week’s “Humbled By…” is something I shot over the weekend while helping to lead worship for a youth event.

Before there ever was an “Iron Kite Films” there was Old Southern Moonshine Revival, Ash Wednesday, Stand and Be Counted, and many others…all bands that I was in.  Yep, music was my life!

But a few years ago I realized something; while I may have been living out my dreams, I was not necessarily living out the plans of the Lord for my life.  So began an amazing journey that Lindsey and I still find ourselves on.

So, this week’s film is a “Thankful For”.  I guess you could say it’s a two-fold “Thankful For”: one part is thankful for the opportunity to have taken the stage again.  There’s really nothing like it.  Few things compare to being under the lights in front of a crowd…and that’s exactly why I don’t find myself there much anymore!

Which leads to the second part that I’m thankful for this week…I’m thankful for this place that the Lord has brought us to.  Iron Kite Films, FIRE School of Ministry, the Logan Community…I never would have dreamed there could be so much joy found off of the stage.  But God knew exactly what He was doing.

This week’s “Humbled By…” is a thankful-for/can’t-live-without combo.  We are CRAZY thankful for our two little girls: Layla (5) and Adalei (2).  We can’t live without them (obviously!!).  But we can’t live without something else either: DESSERT!

Seriously, every night in our house before dinner is even finished the question is asked, “Mom, what’s for dessert!?!”  From butterscotch pudding to cupcakes to chocolate chip pumpkin bread…there is usually something yummy coming out for dessert!
